Hi, I'm Carol Cavill. When it comes to earning a living, most people opt for working for someone else because of the perceived simplicity of that method. Running your own business sounds like a lot of hassle so just having a job seems like the easier way to go. And look, that's a great method for a number of people. But the trouble is that it does means that your hours are not your own. Usually, working for someone else means you have to work to their hours which can be inconvenient – especially if you have children. School hours seldom align with working hours, but worst still, if the kids are not at school age yet, you have to find (and fund) childcare for them. In fact, in my years as being an accountant, some people have told me that they sometimes feel that they have to maintain their job just to pay childcare fees!

That seems like a broken system to me!

But running a business can often seem like a big risk. It doesn't have to be. You can run a successful business from your home with flexible working hours to allow you to live a better life. In other words, you can earn a living that allows you time in the day, for instance, to be there for your kids.

It is possible! And with a target of four hours each day.
